Home By Another Way - Ratings and Roundup

Published at 1:11 pm under News, Ratings

Here’s a roundup of info on last night’s Journeyman episode, “Home By Another Way,” from around the web.

In the overnight ratings, Journeyman was flat in total viewers relative to previous weeks with a 3.7/6 but fell to its lowest rating so far, 1.8, in viewers 18-49. That is somewhat scary, but rating lows were the norm for last night since the normal December slowdown is starting. The writers strike is only compounding that.

New Journeyman Tonight

Published at 8:17 am under News

Don’t forget to watch tonight’s new episode of Journeyman at 10/9c. This episode, “Home By Another Way,” has a holiday theme.  This will set the table for the two-part mid-season (we hope) finale, “The Hanged Man” and “Perfidia,” which will air next week on Monday, December 17 and Wednesday, December 19, respectively.

Send Rice-a-Roni to NBC to Support Journeyman

Published at 11:28 pm under Campaign

OK, this time we mean it.

WHAT ARE WE SENDING?
Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco Treat!

WHO ARE WE ORDERING IT FROM?
You can get it anywhere. If you’d rather buy by hand and ship it out yourself so you can attach a letter to the box, that’s great. You can also buy by the case from Amazon and attach a short message using their sending options. The length will limit your creativity, however.

WHY AREN’T WE POOLING OUR MONEY AND ORDERING IN BULK?
Well, we aren’t doing that, but savejourneyman.funurl.com is taking donations for a bulk order, if you want to go that route. If not, orders trickling in over several days or weeks at 30 Rock might be even more effective - it’ll keep reminding Jeff Zucker that Ben Silverman has an order to place.

SO WHO DO WE SEND TO?

Jeff Zucker c/o NBC
Re: Journeyman
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112

WHAT DO WE ATTACH TO IT?

We would love to have a clever “letter from the future” to attach to the boxes that are sent, but the more creative members of the Save Journeyman! team have yet to come up with something. So we are calling on you, the Save Journeyman! community, to fire up your creative engines and post letters and ideas in the comments. Something about Emmys and DVD sales that will never happen might be clever. We’ll post PDFs of the best entries as they come in.

WHAT CAN WE DO AFTER?
Spread the word. A lot of people around the Internet adore this show but don’t know about this campaign. AICN hasn’t made one mention of what we’re doing yet, though I suspect it was because we were still making up our minds. Well, our minds are made up. We have a plan. It’s time everybody who loves this show and wants to see it survive hear us and pitch in.

All indications are that NBC doesn’t want to cancel this show. They love it. They just can’t justify keeping it on the schedule.

Let’s see if we can give them that justification.

Life can’t best Journeyman in timeslot

Published at 3:52 pm under Ratings

The ratings are finally in for the special airing of Life in Journeyman’s regular timeslot. Life’s ratings were 4.3/7 (2.5 adults 18-49) which is pretty much the same ratings that Journeyman has been getting.  Hopefully this will lead NBC to decide that this is a timeslot problem and not a show problem.

The switch to Rice-a-Roni

Published at 3:43 pm under Campaign

It has come to our attention that most charitable organizations will not accept donations of drugs like aspirin. Since we don’t want to be massively wasteful, we think it would be prudent if we changed our symbolic item to Rice-a-Roni. We thank everyone for voting, and we’re sorry about any confusion.

Later tonight, we will be posting a “letter from the future” that can be attached to boxes of Rice-a-Roni.

Don’t forget!

Published at 3:06 pm under Campaign

Today you download “Blowback” from iTunes in an effort to get the episode to crack the top 10!  Also, watch the episode at NBC.com.

If we’re really lucky, we can get the episode noticed and close a huge distance in our fight to keep this show alive!

Here’s hoping…

Also, don’t forget the poll below this post.

Vote on what to send to NBC in support of Journeyman!

Published at 12:57 pm under Campaign

PLEASE READ BELOW AND WEIGH EACH OPTION BEFORE YOU CAST YOUR VOTE.

POLL CLOSES TUESDAY NIGHT AT 11 PM EST.

What should we send to NBC in support of Journeyman?

  • Aspirin (32% | 208 Votes)
  • Letters From The Future (25% | 161 Votes)
  • Rice-a-Roni (22% | 141 Votes)
  • Monopoly Money (9% | 60 Votes)
  • Nothing - Donate to Charity Under a “Save Journeyman” Fund (8% | 52 Votes)
  • Empty Boxes (4% | 24 Votes)

Total Votes: 646

OK, everybody’s had an ample opportunity to present their opinion on what we should or should not send. Here’s the suggestions I was able to gather, plus the positives and negatives:

Asprin
Tie to the show: Dan gets a headache before he jumps.
Pros: Strong tie to the show, easier to get the message; cheap, easy to send in bulk; reuseable, can be donated to charity.
Cons: Not as reusable as food, might not even be donated due to tampering fears; small, easier to ignore than most other options.

Donation to Charity
Tie to the show: None; unless we find a charity that somehow ties in all clever-like to the show.
Pros: Different, we don’t look like copycats of the Jericho NUTS campaign; beneficial to others.
Cons: NBC doesn’t get the message directly, making it much easier to ignore us.

Empty Boxes
Tie to the show: The intended contents “disappeared” after they jumped back in time.
Pros: Clever; takes up space.
Cons: Annoying; the reference is obscure; the boxes are easy to dispose of and not reusable.

Letters From the Future
Tie to the show: The letters jumped from the past just like Dan Vasser.
Pros: Clever and different from the Jericho NUTS campaign, so we don’t look like copycats.
Cons: Potentially too small and standard; easier to dismiss/send down to some other department.
SPECIAL NOTE: We’ll be doing this EITHER WAY; the idea is too clever not to attach to whatever we send out/if we send anything at all. If you vote for this option, you’re voting to send out the letters on their own.

Monopoly Money
Tie to the show: What Dan’s son calls the money Dan got from Dylan McCleen.
Pros: Easy and cheap to make or buy.
Cons: Small, easy to dismiss and throw out; non-reuseable, NBC can’t do anything with it.

Rice-a-Roni
Tie to the show: San Francisco setting
Pros: Boxes take up space; the food can be donated to charity; cheap to purchase in bulk
Cons: Debatable connection to the show, since the San Francisco setting is not integral to the show save for one instance (”Game Three”); NBC executives might be a tad confused.

Here’s how we’re going to do this: We’re going to close voting on TUESDAY NIGHT so we can start sending stuff out on WEDNESDAY, this way NBC can start getting packages on FRIDAY. The poll is below; choose our weapon.

And while you wait for Tuesday, start writing your letter from the future to attach to whatever we’re sending. Handwritten is preferred, but a typed letter is better than no letter.

Drop your citrus and get ready to book! We’ve got a show to save!

Published at 1:23 am under Campaign

OK, right now we’ve got a few campaign tactics going for December 3rd. One of them is to watch every episode available on NBC’s site, the other is to purchase “Blowback” on that date in order to get the episode into the top ten. These are all very, very good things to do and absolutely should be done if you can spare the time or the money.

The big one, however, is the mail campaign, and it seems like we’re still arguing over what to do about that. Which is all well and good except for one thing: we don’t have any time to argue. This show is over in less than three weeks. Now, if Kevin Falls is to be believed, NBC is looking for one good reason to order the back nine. But if we don’t figure out what we’re going to do and do it ricky-tick, NBC won’t have that good reason, and this show is toast.

So here’s how we’re going to play it. Listed below are the three most valid ideas I’m aware of. This post will be open to adding new ideas, discussing and validating the possible pros and cons of each idea current and new.

On noon Sunday, the options will be locked in. Either myself or Cygnus will post the options in a poll, and we’ll mark up a final tally at 12:01 AM Thursday (perhaps even sooner depending on how many votes we get - the quicker we can settle on something, the better). Whatever wins that tally, that’s what we go buy the heck out of and start sending en masse to 30 Rock.

This is what we have so far.

Rice-a-Roni
Tie to the show: “The San Francisco Treat”
Pros: Can be donated to charity, the boxes take up substantial space, can be sold during commercials
Cons: No real tie to the show besides the San Francisco setting

Asprin
Tie to the show: Dan gets headaches before he jumps
Pros: Can be donated to charity, strong connection to the show, can be sold during commercials
Cons: Does not take up much space

Monopoly Money
Tie to the show: Dan’s son wants to use the Dylan McCleen cash as a substitute for monopoly money
Pros: Easy to make, cheap to buy
Cons: Disposable, takes up minimal space, may be too obscure a reference

Empty boxes were also mentioned, but while it’s a clever idea, there may be some issues with the legality of sending empty boxes over the mail. If you happen to know differently, sound off below and cite your sources.

If you have other ideas, sound off below.

If you want to raise points either positive or negative about any of the ideas, sound off below. Make sure you cite sources for your pros and cons.

If you’re drawing blanks on either one of these but you still want to help, go to any internet forums, sites, or online magazines that you know of that have taken a special interest in Journeyman’s survival. Link them to this site and this blog post - let them know that we need to organize and organize fast, and the quicker they get the word out that we’ve got this campaign, the more our presence can be felt when we finally ship our packages to NBC.

Two sites that I know for sure would want to know about us: AICN and TWOP. If somebody reading this has a TWOP forums account, get to the Journeyman thread and make a post about this. I’m going to e-mail Hercules at AICN and ask him to make a post to direct some traffic here. You may want to do the same to make sure my message doesn’t get lost in the dozens of messages he must get every day. And of course, Digg this post like crazy.

Let’s go to work.
