The news we have been dreading…
…is finally here. We have information from very trustworthy sources (no fooling this time) that Journeyman will not be returning to the air on any network. Kevin Falls has signed a development deal with another studio, and NBC and Fox are not interested in continuing the show. Their disinterest is moot without the availability of Falls, in any case. There is no word on a DVD release.
While this is extremely sad news, we should all be proud of the effort we put in to save the series and to stand up for quality television. Just a few days ago I received an e-mail from Brian Howe, who played Hugh Skillen, that expressed appreciation for our efforts. This is something we’ve heard before from others involved in the show. It is very nice to know that we were noticed and appreciated.
If you are interested in continuing to fight for quality television, the folks over at the Jericho Monster blog are helping to form Rock the Ratings: TheTelevision Viewers Union, with an eye to fortify campaigns like ours and get the networks and ratings people to recognize the new ways TV is being viewed.
Tying up some loose ends, we will be announcing the winner of our iTunes contest, and our poster contest will go forward if there is continuing interest. Drop by and post an entry.
Once again, we want to thank everyone for all of the wonderful work done on behalf the campaign, including posting, e-mailing, writing in, and, of course, sending in Rice-a-Roni. It has been great working with all of you, and we wish everyone all the best in the future.

I think Journeyman’s first season was ill-timed with the writers strike, thus, this was a new show hurt in the long run because of it.
Eventually, using force majeure Jan 14 2008, the networks terminated dozens of deals, including Kevin Falls, to save millions. I wish 20th Cntry FOX would have signed Fall’s back post strike.
I will truly miss this show. Wish Fall’s owned this show and not FOX. Maybe he could have shopped it around some.
Thanks to the Journeyman producers, writers and actors who took notice and appreciated all of the fans efforts for this exceptional show.

And I would like to thank you, the folks who kept savejourneyman.net up and running. I’m sure that everyone will agree when I say “It’s been fun.” Things may have gotten a little heated yesterday. But let’s let bygones be bygones. It’s been a blast, everyone. I think I’ll go check out this “Rock the Ratings.”
And okay, question. “Falls signed a development deal.” What exactly does that mean? He’s trying to make an entirely new show? Or is he still fighting for Journeyman?
Thank you for keeping the site and the fight going all this time. It has been fun, although now I’m disheartened. Note that the show that was put in Journeyman’s time slot on Monday for the fall lineup is called “My Own Worst Enemy”. Could NBC talking about itself? It’s extremely self-describing. I see nothing I will be watching on their network. I wish millions of others felt so strongly about it that they would boycott it also. Will this site stay running until we know if there will be a DVD release? I can’t help but continue to hope in that one small shred . . .
Well, it was a show that deserved our love and appreciation! I wish the best for the writers, the cast, crew and Kevin Falls on future endeavors. I’ll be looking forward to what he’ll do next.
And to the fans that supported this show, it was great to be a part of this with you! Don’t succumb to dumb tv!!
@Aaron - Fox owns Journeyman, so the fact that he is with a different studio now means that he can’t work on Journeyman.
A big thanks to all the fans who fought so hard. This is definitely a sad day. This has been with very little exception a very positive community of fans. Journeyman was a quality show with a hopeful message. If anything we need more of these types of shows, not less. I do believe it was worth fighting and letting the networks know that, as viewers, we should have a say in what we’re seeing. As far as the questions above: I’ve gotten word that the site will remain open as well as the forums. As far as the campaign knows right now there is no word on the DVD.
*sigh*
There is no hope for humanity. Truly.
God, I hate tv.
What really sucks is that their released schedule is heavy sci fi. Supposedly. I bet half the shows don’t make it cause of the crappy support NBC gives. I won’t even bother watching any of their new shows.
This is terrible news, but either way, I’m just so glad a quality show like Journeyman made it on network TV in the first place, all things considered. Despite the outcome, I hope the writers and cast know that they all did an amazing job. Personally, I think Journeyman is the coolest, most unique and interesting TV show that’s come along since 24. Kudos to Save Journeyman too; when the last episode aired, I was looking for a way to get involved and help the show, and I was impressed by the organized and positive way Save Journeyman went about doing it. It was well worth the effort. Bravo!
I, too, congratulate all the folks who supported this site–and the hard-posting fans at sites like H!N. In my opinion (lol) the exodus of fans from these sites would be premature. Let’s take a deep breath and come back soon and try to figure out what to do. All these good people and their incredible energy should not be allowed to simply evaporate! This was a tough, tough day and we need some time to recover.
hey, we gave it our best shot! we have closure, and we have 12 great episodes ( and a lot of what if’s!)
First and foremost I want to say thank you to everyone that did anything to try to save our favorite show. Even though it comes a close third to American Gladiators and Deal or no Deal in our hearts and homes.(Just trying to cheer everyone up with a touch of humor, you know JM was and still is to me #1) I want to put out a special thanks to Serulous for keeping everyone awake with organizing chats and sending out the occasionaly email making sure a part of my mind was still on JM. I do appreciate everyone that had any part in this though, don’t think I/we don’t.
On another note, I personally will continue the push for JM on DVD. I think it is something we as fans deserve and it might be worth taking the tail end of the campaign to push for.
Also a big thanks to Kevin Falls and everyone involved with JM that made a great show worth watching. I’m just gratefull that its getting warm now where I live and going outside and getting away from the TV will be easier. Without JM on there really isn’t anything worth watching save the few intelligent shows.
I hope to catch you all in the forums, it’s become somewhat of a family of fans here, I know that I’ll stick around, maybe we can start our own “chapter” for the Television Viewers Union.
See you all around, if not here, then maybe somewhere else, or somewhen else?
NBC and Fox are fucking retarded. I can’t understand how Journeyman doesn’t make it because honestly look at Sarah Conner Chronicles it was a good show in all but it totally changed things from the terminator movie and only like 6-8 million watch it. Journeyman was put at an unfair time slot! Bionic Women whoever got that to stay on air is fucking retarded! That is the worst show ever created mabye other than the 1980’s attempt at making a Ferris Bueller tv show. Journeyman deserved another chance they deserved a 9-10 time slot because people that work GO TO BED at that time. Also the writers strike fucked everything up which dont get me wrong they deserved more money but it changed things a lot. In other words Journeyman was treated unfairly by the networks and anyone that likes Bionic Women go kill urself! Ty so much for this wonderful attempt everyone at doing this it had a great run its to bad broadcasters no longer respect their viewers otherwise we might have been able to get it back.
—– Hyphen, Defender of the Horde —–
Quantum Leap was on 5 seasons with mediocre ratings. Journey was on 1/2 a season and they didn’t give it a chance and it was better then Leap, had no gimmicks and just relayed on acting to make the concept believable….I hope Heroes doesn’t suck this year like last, so now they’ll be nothing to watch.
Let me first say thank you to all of those who worked so hard to keep the fires lit for hope of the return of this excellent program. I’d like to thank Kevin Falls and the whole creative force behind JM for giving us this wonderful show and perhaps hope for the future that there are people out there still interested in doing something different, intelligent and entertaining. Unfortunately, we will be wondering the question ‘what if?’ for some time to come with regards to the show . . .
Warning . . . angry rant follows . . .
I cannot believe what a bitter taste this leaves in my mouth. This trend of axing good, quality television started (for me, anyway) with Firefly. Do the network execs even know who their target audiences are? Do they care? Why dangle the carrot only to pull it away at the last minute? This trend has continued with excellent programming like Wonderfalls, Harsh Realm, John Doe, Invasion, and now Journeyman and Jericho. There are many others that vast amounts of people enjoyed and became big fans of, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath them just when they were getting started. What does this say about us as a society? I’ll tell you what I think. It says about the majority of us simply this:
Don’t make me think when I am being entertained. That’s simply not enjoyable. I just want to see boobs, pecs, and gossip. I can’t be bothered with using my mind to get around a plot. And while we’re at it, let’s just dispense with plots altogether. Give us more reality shows!
Now my fellow JM fans and fans of other good quality television (read speculative fiction) I know we are not the people saying these things above. And I know it is rather cynical. But does it not ring true? And does it not irk the hell out of you to know that these folks are the ones who determine what will be shown on the airwaves?
Does anyone think Battlestar Galactica would be entering their final season if it were on one of the alphabet networks or Fox? You’re wrong if you think so. And what do we get besides Heroes and Lost? The Terminator-SCC? I know a lot of people like that show, but I think its crap. The dialog is horrific, the production values are sub-par . . . I could go on and on (and on and on) about what is wrong with that show and why it is ironic that tripe like that gets a free pass to the next stage yet JM doesn’t. But I won’t because this is sort of my requiem for the brilliance that is Journeyman and while I am brandishing a bit of fire here, I am getting a bit off topic.
In conclusion I just have to say I HAVE HAD IT! I am tired of supporting these douche bags at the networks that CONSTANTLY put quality programming on and then remove said programming as fast as they see the ratings go a bit south. So here is what I am going to do from now on. I am no longer going to watch network television on the air. I WAS going to purchase a TiVo. I’m not even going to do that. To protest these people and help give me some sense of revenge, I will download every episode and watch it at my leisure. No commercials, none even to skip through. If this makes me a criminal, so be it. What they have done to those of us who invest our time and thought into quality television like Journeyman is far more criminal in my rationale.
See you all at the next Save (insert quality show here) campaign!
BTW . . . when I said:
“I will download every episode and watch it at my leisure.”
I did not mean Journeyman. I meant every program I watch from this point forward. Sadly, there aren’t many left.
A Dark Day indeed,
I want my Journeyman DVD!!!!
J.
There were other writers that worked on Journeyman episodes, I wonder if they are still with FOX or resigned with FOX??
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Journeyman_episodes
Anyone else love that NBC has greenlit Knight Rider? Holy Lord.
I still can’t believe this is the end. But as someone said recently, Journeyman was too intelligent for the average television viewer. So, looking at the worthless junk they air now, I’m going to spend my spare time on the computer where the smart folk hang out.
Thanks to everyone who fought so hard. This truly was a show that deserved the fight. As for Jericho being cancelled, if anyone is paying attention, I think it was axed because it is too close to the truth. (Jennings and Ralls= Halliburton, Ravenwood=Blackwater - look them up on Google.)
I have no problem buying the 13 episodes of Journeyman but have never done that so could some of you experts in DVD technology help some of us less knowledgeable fans know the best way to go about this. Can we buy them from ITunes or Hulu and then put them on DVD? And if so, how?
This will at least help my withdrawal from the best show of all time. Long live Journeyman!
I just can’t let go of Journeyman. I know every hard working fan can’t believe that their time and effort was all for nothing. I would like to know how to get a hold of contacting Kevin Falls? I thought of putting together a compilation of all of the really spectacular comments that were posted on the board at Hey!Nielsen and getting them to him. I don’t know if he ever dropped by to read anything, but there was a lot of heartfelt emotion from adoring fans that was posted on those boards. I know that he and Alex Graves were the producers of JM. I realize that Kevin has signed with another network to work on something else, but does that mean he and Alex can’t have anything to do with JM? The Executive Producer for Jericho is the one pitching it to the other networks and channels. If there is still hope for Jericho, then why not for Journeyman? Why wouldn’t Fox want to continue this series? They have 24 and I love it and have supported it from the beginning, but surely this will be it’s last season and there would be room for Journeyman. Does Fox really know how the fans feel about Journeyman? How much of our efforts were directed towards Fox? I know we are all exhausted but I say we set a date and begin again. We knew it would be a battle and some of you have fought much longer and harder than I have. My 2 1/2 months of daily working to save Journeyman has exhausted me, but I don’t want to give up the fight. Are we absolutely, 100% sure that there is no hope at all?
I am very sad….this was such a special show. I totally agree with PearlsMom. What she said is what I feel as well.
I am with you Cooperstroop!!!! Lets keep this fight going!! Come on guys if Jericho can do it then why cant we?!!!
@Cooperstroop - I realize that Kevin has signed with another network to work on something else, but does that mean he and Alex can’t have anything to do with JM?
Yes, that is exactly what it means. Journeyman is owned by Fox, and Kevin Falls can no longer work on it since he doesn’t work for Fox. Not surprisingly, Fox has no interest in continuing a show created by someone who works for a rival. It really is over.
And since you mentioned it, I think it’s over for Jericho, too. The best we can hope for is a movie or mini-series depicting the new civil war. It got its second chance, and from the network’s point of view, it squandered that chance.
I think a final push at FOX for a DVD release will do two things for us:
1.Show FOX how many people like this show and have the slimmest of slim chances of getting them to consider options
2.Maybe we’ll actually get a DVD set.
Maybe i’m crazy, but I want something to remember the show by, DVD’s might be nice.
I wanted to thank everyone at savejourneyman.net for their efforts. It’s very appreciated by this fan of Journeyman! You did a great job of keeping us informed week-by-week as well as keeping up our spirits. It sucks that NBC continues to be so incredibly lame that they won’t give a good show a chance but would rather go with something like Knight Rider, which I found embarrassing. I, for one, don’t plan on watching anything on that particular network!
Its over.. The more fighting the more effort wasted.. Time to move on like the cast has moved on.. Journeyman WAS a great show. Now its just memories..
I just heard the news. X(
I can’t believe it (well, yes, I can). It’s too bad Doctor Who only comes on Sci-Fi… otherwise going forward I would have nothing to do with NBC or its affiliates. Curse you, NBC.
Great effort from everyone. Unfortunately, network tv is reality tv. That is just the way it is. I loved this show and I had hoped we had turned the corner on the poor poor programming of reality shows. Network tv is dead. At least the network tv I grew up with. It is hard to belive that it wasn’t that long ago we had Seinfeld, Everybody loves Raymond and other fabulous shows. I will not watch anything new that these folks try to force down my throat and when NBC replaces Jay Leno with Conan O’Brien, it will be over for me. I will continue to buy classic series on DVD,,,,but that is it for the Networks……and Good Ridence!
There is nothing that I can add to so many of these deeply felt comments. The passion of the fans certainly mirrored those of all the creative minds and skills on the program. I have enjoyed taking this ride with all of you.
I can’t be so pessimistic though. After all, Journeyman enriched our lives for a few glorious episodes, and we must feel good about that. Certainly, lightening can strike again, even on NBC. We can look for that and wait to be elevated once again to reach beyond apathy to support qualify programming.
To those who created savejourneyman.net, thank you for creating an informative and inspiring site. Also, thank you for letting me come aboard for a short while. To you, and everyone else, I look forward to our next adventure down the road.
May the Force be with you, always!
Well I think there is only one answer, support the major networks like they support the shows you watch. In short, watch cable or DVDs instead!! This same Newtork pattern with canning shows before they reach infancy is getting redundant. So, you don’t watch, they don’t get advertiser dollars and they sink lower and lower into the muck (self deserved if you ask me
Kind of like when many people buy TVonDVD, they wait to see if more than one season is even going to be released before purchasing season one.
Journeyman was waaay to cool for regular network television and I suppose to good to even last. Still, it was awesome!
I still think of the show everytime I look up at the clock down at the SF Ferry building on my way to catch the Sausilito ferry.
At least I have BATTLESTAR GALACTICA for 20 more eps and now a greenlit spin-off CAPRICA! Yay!
Everyone who uses Netflix go there and put Journeyman in your saved category for the Queue.
Great idea from “Israel” for all Netflix users. Search “Journeyman” and you can “save” it to your queue. Hopefully, this will help get the ball rolling on the DVD version.
After having too many shows that I got hooked on canceled after the first season, I swore I wouldn’t watch any new shows until they had been renewed. My plan was to catch up with any Season 1 DVDs before Season 2 began (this is what I did with LOST, another of my favorites). I broke my promise and watched the Journeyman pilot (and Bionic Woman…what a piece of crap! Please tell me this one hasn’t been renewed). Although I wouldn’t say the pilot was incredible, I was hooked. The show continued to get better and better with each episode. I still have the final episode on my TIVO and watched it earlier today which prompted me to see if there was any news about the show. What a sad day for those of us who have the ability to think.
Thanks to everyone who tried to keep the show alive.
Well one more reason not to watch television. to whoever participated in the savejourneyman site many kudos for fighting the good fight and trying to preserve quality TV (Now more than ever an oxymoron) I wish the ratings system ill- will I hope more than anything we can keep in touch via digg it was thanks to journeyman that I joined digg in the first place - albodean
I be first in line for the DVD’s
It’s so ridiculous that the network didn’t even give it a formal cancellation. They just let us believe that it could come back, when the whole time it’s been cancelled. Why give people false hope?
I am crushed…..loved the show and hoped at worst we would be able to re-see the 12 episodes during summer reruns when we could try and build some new fans!
Why would Fox toy with us by saying, “Sure, you can use an official Journeyman pic”?? I’m all for keeping this site going, at least for the sake of DVDs.
*rubs his eyes*
Do you know how long it takes to read 35 responses?
Can’t say as I’m surprised by the news. Looking at NBC’s lineup for the next year, there isn’t a thing on it that will draw me to watch. I’d say I’m done with NBC. Hasn’t been the same since Johnny Carson retired!
Thanks to all my fellow Journeyman fans for trying so hard to save the show. Quality programming is worth fighting for. We can’t sit idly by while the dumbing down of America continues. It has been great to know that intelligent viewers are still out there. Though I fear our numbers dwindle…
Off to watch the cable channels… I wonder what’s on the History Channel…
The problem is that Journeyman was so good that all other shows pale in comparison. Maybe this is the real reason it was not picked up. It was *too* good. It will make people who watched the show turn off their TVs and not waatch other TV. I do think we need to continue to press for a DVD release.
Hi fellow fans,
If you get a chance, please read the article in today’s (April 3) NY Times by their TV critic, Bill Carter. The first clue of its bias is its location: Business Section/Advertising. Count how many times JM is mentioned in the article. And please note what Ben Silverman claims is the common thread of the shows NBC will run in the fall. And then ask if this whole article is truly a late April Fool’s joke. Hahhah. Not.
And feel free to email Mr.Carter with your reaction to the “objectivity” of his article. I know that I will be doing just that.
A dark day it is. I’ve had it with NBC, and Fox for that matter. If not even Fox will step up and support a show that came from it’s own studio, there is no hope. I hate network TV! I wish I had cable, then I wouldn’t have to but up with this sh!t.
I’m holding out hope for a DVD release. The least these moronic networks can do for the fans is give them what exists of the show, even if it is only 13 brilliant, captivating, wonderfully creative episodes. I’d rather have that than nothing at all.
Regardless, once a Journeyman Fan, always a Journeyman Fan. I’ll remember it fondly…forever.
We’ve fought hard for a very long time. And even though it didn’t save the show, we sure tried out hardest and let the world know that there are some really dedicated fans out there. It’s a shame that NBC didn’t see the potential in Journeyman. Hope that they could at least give Journeyman, and its fans, the respect they deserve and release the show on DVD.
Sad to see you go Journeyman. Thanks to all of the dedicated fans all over the world who tried their hardest to bring this show back to production. And thanks to the wonderful cast of crew for making such a show. And thank you Kevin Falls for creating such a gem.
Journeyman Forever!
Well…
It has been quite a journey, man! ;@)
I am sad for the cast, as they seemed to have a chemistry between them, like I have rarely seen on any other shows. I am also sad for the writers, who had the chance to write about a topic so interesting, yet made it (almost) believable. And I am sad for us, the fans, who are left with pretty much nothing to watch. (PEACE OUT, NBC!) :@(
Hopefully the DVD set will be complete, in both film & music, and then some.
*(Television DVD sets tend to be “edited” and/or “tweaked” in some way: missing scenes, different music, etc).
ANYwho, I have “discovered” 2 other shows which don’t exactly make up for the loss of Journeyman, but are somewhat interesting, nonetheless:
1. “New Amsterdam” - (FOX)
At it’s worst, it is a cheesy cop drama with all the typical cliches - figuring out the case too easily, finishing each others sentences, repeating a corny line from one character to another towards the end (like most movies do). Finding all the clues & figuring things out quickly is cool for the one WITH the “power/secret” (John Amsterdam), but not cool for his partner - she should be learning from him. Instead, she’s cocky (even walks with a slight “hey I’m cool” stagger) her hair & make-up are always perfect, and she ALWAYS (gagging begins…) finishes his sentences. However, there is an underlying time travel theme to this, in a way, kina/sorta… I don’t want to spoil it. Just watch, and try to ignore the corny cliches, and the occasional bad dialogue, and enjoy!
2. “Eli Stone” - (ABC)
Ok, not really time travel, and a bit quirky for those used to the “realness” of Journeyman, but pretty well-acted. Not so cliche. And enjoyable.
That being said, maybe Journeyman can live on in comics, short stories, even a novel or 2. eh?!?
Thanx 2 All,
~dj moon~
Very bummed, but saw it coming! Not surprised. I guess consumers prefer fake “reality” shows and stupid shows.
@Aaron - Why would Fox toy with us by saying, “Sure, you can use an official Journeyman pic”?? I’m all for keeping this site going, at least for the sake of DVDs.
You know, that is a good question…personally, I think it was Fox’s way of acknowledging the fans, too - AND I really do think that since they own it, and since there isn’t any ‘talks’ right now of putting the 13 episodes on DVD, that really, we should continue the campaign en force - but keep it towards Fox. Yes, that means letters and faxes and post cards and Rice-a-Roni… There was an idea floating around of sending RaR collectively as a group to a charity donation, but I don’t think it would have the same impact as inundating the network… I for one have really been appreciative of savejourneyman.net being the ‘anchor’ – at least for me – for this hard fought campaign. Like Aaron and many others, I would love to see this site continue – at least for the sake of the DVD’s.
I wonder if the motivation (or lack thereof) with the fans would have been different had NBC sucked it up and outright officially canceled Journeyman way back in December? Which makes one wonder – why hasn’t there been ‘official’ word from NBC about cancellation? Are they simply going to pretend it never happened??? We were doing the campaign based on it being on a ‘bubble’, not being canceled, but look at the Jericho fans - they were fighting for a show that for all intents and purposes was dead and buried. Yes, word is that they might have had ‘inside help’ at CBS (unconfirmed) - but look how far it got them (or didn’t), considering it’s CBS that canceled it a second time. At any rate, even with the newest ‘blow’ from CBS, it’s only inciting the fans even more from what I’ve been reading - they’re bound and determined to get their show back SOMEWHERE, and it looks like they might get their wish – even, as Todd pointed out, it might be a movie or a mini-series, at least it’s something. And I’m sure DVD’s aren’t out of the question for them!
@Wally - I think a final push at FOX for a DVD release will do two things for us:
1.Show FOX how many people like this show and have the slimmest of slim chances of getting them to consider options
2.Maybe we’ll actually get a DVD set.
Maybe i’m crazy, but I want something to remember the show by, DVD’s might be nice.
You’re not crazy, Wally – I think most or all of the awesome Journeyman Fans would really love to have something to ‘remember’ the show by in the form of DVD’s. I agree, I think a ‘final push’ at FOX for a DVD will show FOX how many people like this show…maybe they’ll pay more attention than NBC did, because NBC didn’t care, they didn’t own it, they just mistreated it…
Now, it’s understood that Kevin Falls is obviously not available should the remote possibility spark to bringing Journeyman back say within the next 6-9 months…BUT look at how ’short’ his contract ended up being with NBC…granted, it was interrupted and eliminated due to the writer’s strike, but now we have the SAG contract coming up in June, so the whole scenario could ultimately shift yet again. I remember seeing somewhere where Kevin would like to be working for/with FOX again, then add to that his comment in his last podcast interview about encouraging the fans to keep sending RaR and keep doing what we were doing…
So, like a CSI, let’s review our sparse clues… FOX owns Journeyman…FOX indicated support of our campaign to save Journeyman…Kevin Falls likes FOX and wouldn’t mind working for/with them again at some point…Kevin Falls thought our campaign was great, and the idea of sending RaR also great… Hmmmm…let me see… perhaps it’s too early to throw in the towel completely? Just give up because we finally got the bad news we were sort of expecting? Give up the idea that we should get (and deserve) a DVD of the first 13 episodes? Figure it’s a done deal and there’s NO WAY anyone will EVER even THINK of bringing it back? I think not… If the Jericho fans had done that, they wouldn’t have gotten their show to come back, albeit for a brief time…they wouldn’t have the potential of having it ‘land’ on Sci-Fi or elsewhere in whatever capacity it will be. Sure, the producer of Jericho didn’t sign up with a different network, and Kevin is now working for a ‘competitor’ – but haven’t there been a lot of ‘cross-over’ moments with different shows where the same producer/creator did shows for several networks at the same time? For instance, HIMYM is produced by Universal FOX Television Studios (the same people who own Journeyman) but airs on CBS… It seems to me that Jerry Bruckheimer’s name popped up one season where he was involved in shows on practically every network station, not just limited to one. Granted, some of those shows didn’t last past one season if they made it a full season, but it just goes to show that the possibility of dual networks is there…
And look at the recent ‘events’ – ABC has been working towards bringing Scrubs from NBC over to ABC so that show wouldn’t end up with it’s last 4 pre-strike episodes being a ‘straight-to-DVD’ thing, plus give it a half or full season and see how the numbers shake out. In addition, ABC is also looking at picking up The New Adventures of Old Christine from CBS since CBS currently has that show on a ‘bubble’ in spite of it having good/decent/better-than-before-the-strike ratings for its last couple of fresh episodes that recently aired. I really, REALLY think we shouldn’t give up just because it looks hopeless…look how quickly things change - maybe we CAN make a difference…we should at least try for that darn DVD!
My two-cents…

Three articles of interest for everyone…
Still sad…
Still hoping there might be a DVD set…
Still wondering what happened to Dan…
Still wondering what/who/why he was time traveling…
[…] Scratch that, it is too late. […]
I beg to differ with “Stock Picks and Discussion at iBankCoin.com » Blog Archive” - it’s NEVER too late to get a DVD! And the link you supplied didn’t send us anywhere to back up your statement of ’scratch that, it is too late’ - no additional information that what we already have, and the link within that link brings us right back here…full circle… ???
Please go the forums and read my idea about ONE LAST PUSH in Honor of Journeyman! Let’s Rock the Ratings at H!N! We could take that board by a storm and make the vampires (who are on top with Moonlight) heads spin!! : )
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO I guess Ill have to watch Cashmere Mafia or Lipstick Jungle which are stupid spinoffs of Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. What could be better than Journeyman than shows about dysfunctional, dissatisfied, sexually unsatisfied, slutty, gossipy housewives!! /sarcasm
I’d love to see a DVD of this series. I do think, however, the only way we’re going to see one is a concerted effort by fans to push for it. FOX does have a history of releasing even short-lived shows like Kitchen Confidential on DVD and much, much later. Journeyman has expensive music rights that need to be considered and FOX would have to think releasing a DVD would financially be a good move…that’s why I think there needs to be a fan push behind it.
ejoanna, can you supply the link to the article you mentioned?
Cooperstroop, I really like your Hey Nielsen idea. Let’s go for it!

(I tried to post all three links above at the same time and it didnt like it, so i did it individually.)
Three articles of interest for everyone…
Still sad…
Still hoping there might be a DVD set…
Still wondering what happened to Dan…
Still wondering what/who/why he was time traveling…
I’m so sorry to learn that Journeyman is really gone. It was one of my all time faves, even though there were such a small amount of episodes. My generation was able to get NBC to give Star Trek a 3rd season, so I was hopeful of getting Journeyman at least 1 full season. Apparently a combo of the writer’s strike, a poor time slot and not enough press from NBC killed the show. I felt it would be a natural for the Sci-fi channel, but that never happened either. I’m going to miss it.
Thanks for the encouragement serulous! I’m excited! I need other people to give me feedback about this idea. If we could get enough to be involved in an organized blitz then we could make a huge statement. Go to the forum boards on this website and read the post I made today about One Last Push! Sounds like we are going to birth something doesn’t it!
Some fantastic posts since my last one!! Thanks to all, especially Sassy for her comprehensive overview.
Serulous, I guess I’m too befogged to find the link to the April 3, 2008, Bill Carter article entitled, “At NBC, Supersizing The Season” in the New York Times.
Last night I went to nytimes.com and typed Carter’s name in their search engine(?) and got directed to his mailbox and emailed him a polite but firmly critical response to his, IMO, puff piece for NBC. The quotes in the article from Mr. SIlverman made me gag. Does he even watch his own shows?:(
I’m all for an organized DVD campaign, so I’ll definitely check out Cooperstroop’s “One Last Push” post on the forums. Save Journeyman may still have one campaign left in it yet!
I have the link, (to the 4/3/08 NY Times article, but not sure I have the clarity of mind to figure out how to make it clickable.
NBC Supersizing the Season
Sorry, don’t know how to do it on this htread. Help!?
Journeyman was too much for people with minds at the level of “Kenny vs. Spenny” shows. The only viewing NBC will get on my TV is that fraction of a second when i flip through on my way between channels, that is if I don’t just direct tune to the other one.
Hey to all the Journeyman Fans. Please Read Kevin Falls’ Thank You to the Fans over at our forums:

Didn’t see ejoanna’s question before. To make the link clickable here, just post the url into the message as I did with my previous message. The url automatically becomes clickable.
“…but the fact that there’s a DVD of Bionic Woman”
OMG!
That’s SO wrong.
The cosmic fallout from *that* will be infinite.
*waits anxiously for another post (ie, “Site to continue for sake of DVDs)*
I just went to Hey Nielson for the first time. I went through 31 pages of opinions. And I didn’t stop agreeing/disagreeing until I’d upped the percentage of 25 comments. Then, I created an opinion of my own. “Journeyman, victim of near non-existent promotion and a bad time slot.”
STREAM EPISODE ONE TOMORROW (MONDAY) NIGHT AT THE REGULAR TIME!
Because Journeyman in ‘07 AND Studio 60 in ‘06 have both been cancelled after only one one season (or less), I won’t be watching any new shows on NBC. On top of that, once the four shows I watch on NBC now reach their end I will quit watching NBC all together! That station sucks!
I can’t believe they kept Chuck and Bionic Woman. Both of those shows are are pretty darn lame…
I just clicked on the link on this page that takes you to the place to get the email addresses for FOX. I spent over an hour putting together a well thought out letter and sent it to all of the top executives. I told them about the shows that I currently watch and support on FOX. I talked about the desire of the masses for quality television. Then I spent some time telling them why I love Journeyman. I also asked for a DVD set of Journeyman to be released and that after Kevin Falls is done with his current project that I would like to see Journeyman returned to the air waves.
Come on y’all!! Let’s rally!!
I guess it’s finally over. It’s sad but I’m glad I was a part of the save the show campaign. Standing up for it and not getting it back on the air is better than just sitting around doing nothing.
Thanks guys.
Oh darn. Serulous is right. Their is a TON of music licensing for Journeyman’s episodes. That’s probably the biggest obstacle in the way of a DVD. Stuff like Depeche Mode and Smashing Pumpkins is probably expensive.
Yes, jmanfan24 - the music was the most expensive part of producing Journeyman…and that’s why ALL FANS NEED TO RALLY TOGETHER to push for a DVD!! Don’t give up now, we want a DVD, don’t we?? Everyone seems to have completely abandoned H!N, LESS THAN 10 Opinions have been posted the last couple of days…at that rate we’ll end up not even being in the Top 10 Shows - how’s THAT going to show fan support for a DVD???
LET’S FIGHT FOR A DVD! It’s worth it!!!!
If everyone on this site would go over to heynielsen.com each day and leave an opinion that is based on what you like about Journeyman and not based on your opinion of NBC or FOX and not “campaigning” for the show then we could pull this show back up or atleast keep it in the Top 10. Right now this is the top overall ratings and Journeyman is slipping each day:
1. Moonlight
2. October Road
3. Alex O”Loughlin
4. Jericho
5. Blood Ties
6. Journeyman
7. Kyle Schmid
8. House
9. Sophia Myles
10. Jason Dohring
SIX of the TOP TEN are associated with either Moonlight or Blood Ties..Vampire Shows!
This is the Top Ten for Television Shows:
1. Moonlight
2. October Road
3. Jericho
4. Blood Ties
5. Journeyman
6. House
7. New Amsterdam
8. Grey’s Anatomy
9. Lost
10. Heroes
Come join us at Hey!Nielsen and make your voice count. Leave opinions and comments to other people’s opinions and do this daily because it will help. as Sassy said, with our fight to get a DVD set!
This just blows me right out of the water. Especially when I see the CRAP that they think is worhty of air time. What the #$#$% are they thinking ?!?!?!
I don’t know if people really understand the Hey!Nielsen ratings. This is different from the Nielsen Ratings. Hey!Nielsen is an online community made up of fans who come and support their favorite shows/actors/movies/music/games…etc.
All of the ratings that I listed in my post above Jushindo were established by fans coming to the heynielsen.com website and supporting their favorite shows. Other factors are taken into consideration in establishing the ratings, but basically Hey!Nielsen is a “fan driven” website.
Basically, Journeyman hasn’t had enough fans commit to getting involved over at that website. I think that is unfortunate for Journeyman, because Hey!Nielsen gives numerical ratings that the networks can look at on a daily basis.
If Journeyman fans want to make an impression on FOX about our commitment to the show so that they will release a DVD and possibly air reruns and maybe even bring Journeyman back someday, then we need a “ton” of people over at that website on a daily basis. Coming in just once and posting doesn’t help the ratings. It is the consistent daily posting that will effect the numbers. Everyone can surely give 5 minutes a day to doing this. Please come over there and join those of us who haven’t given up!
I wish I had seen jmanfan24’s comments earlier. I was checking only the most recent blog post comments - my apologies. I do think a DVD is something absolutely worth fighting for. Bionic Woman on DVD and not Journeyman? So wrong. The only way FOX is going to know that Journeyman fans want this DVD is for them to hear it directly from us. So for everyone who wants to see Journeyman out on DVD, write to FOX, let them know. The power of fan letters can be very strong.
It’s too bad we couldn’t do something more, towards some sort of “closure” for the fans.
Not just a DVD set, but a final episode, or a movie (theatrical or made-for-TV is okL).
Something that will answer some/all of our questions, maybe leaving just a bit to the imagination (like never getting to see the “alien” in “Contact”).
I can’t stand when they (the industry) leave a show open & empty like this.
This happened before in other sci-fi shows like “Dark Angel” (not great, but you KNOW you watched it just for a lil’ JA!;).
And a really good show cancelled all-too-soon “Invasion”, with the amazing (but always somewhat creepy/scary) acting of William Fichtner, who now plays “Alexander Mahone” (the twisted FBI agent) on the awesome show “Prison Break”.
Both of those, for me, left HUGE cliff-hangers, with no pay-off.
I think each, and now “Journeyman”, deserve a final episode/movie.
A 14th episode on the box set would more than suffice.
And as far as licensing the music goes, I’d pitch in a ten or twenty towards it.
If only to have a definitive box set (unlike anothr fave “Keen Eddie”, missing music).
*sigh*
Seems Like every show I enjoy gets a nice kick in the ass! Could they have tried airing it at 8 or 9 instead of 10. Alot of people are in bed. It was an excellent show with a bucket load of potential. Too bad!
It is very sad that the networks didnt listen to the fans on this. I will really miss this show.
Why wouldn’t Fox want to continue this series? Does Fox really know how the fans feel about Journeyman? How much of our efforts were directed towards Fox? Please make sure that you have clicked on the link that is provided above on the main page of savejourneyman.net to get the addresses, both snail and email, for FOX and send them polite requests for a Journeyman DVD. Tell them how much you love Journeyman and why it’s important to you to see it come back someday.
Also, there is an online petition that is gathering signatures to send to FOX to request the DVD.
Here is the link for that: http://www.petitiononline.com/jmdvd/
Another thing that you, as a Journeyman Fan can do is help us over at Hey!Nielsen. This is a website that provides a daily numerical rating of shows. The rating is determined by the number of opinions and comments we can gather each day. I am going to repost some of what I posted above, so if any of you do want to join us at heynielsen.com you will know what type of opinions/comments to stay away from. Only the “right kind” of comments counts towards the rating.
“If everyone on this site would go over to heynielsen.com each day and leave an opinion that is based on what you like about Journeyman and not based on your opinion of NBC or FOX and not “campaigning” for the show then we could pull this show back up or at least keep it in the Top 10.
