Kevin Falls’ Thank You to the Fans
SaveJourneyman.net would like to pass along this message from Journeyman creator, Kevin Falls.
APRIL 4TH, 2008 — 11:01 PM, Los Angeles
Dear SaveJourneyman Fans–
I just wanted to thank you for your valiant effort to try to save this show. It did not go unnoticed by myself, the writers, producers and actors. I am reluctant to encourage you to lobby for a DVD given all the work you did for naught to get the show picked up for another season, but the fact that there’s a DVD of Bionic Woman and not Journeyman just doesn’t seem quite right.
Journeyman was a wonderful and rewarding experience for almost everyone associated with the show. As I said before, we tried to move you intellectually and emotionally, but in the end, you did that to us.
If you continue to demand quality television, we’ll keep trying to produce it.
Humbly yours,
Kevin Falls
Kevin may be reluctant, but we aren’t. Start firing off those letters, e-mails and faxes. Journeyman deserves to be on DVD. Let’s make sure Fox knows it. Contact info for Fox can be found here.

I sent off e-mails to Fox earlier today. And soon I’ll have letters in the mail. Should we bombard Fox with Rice-A-Roni too?
I’m so upset about this…shows are cancelled all the time…but this show was very special, truly unique.
Jeff Zucker and NBC suck. They save other shows, but are too stupid to see the syndication possiblities of this show on other stations like sci fi, A and E etc….DVD sales, so many ways they could make money….
If it had more episodes it would probably end up like the original Trek and people would discover it.
Alot it good it does me, but I am so mad right now.
Best to all who supported and to all those who were involved in its creation.
God Bless You All!
I am ready to do this. I felt the need to fight to keep this show on because ..it was the best written, best produced and best cast show I have EVER seen. It was a short ride but it is my Number one of all time……Jericho is number 2 on my list. After this fight, I just haven’t seen the need to continue my network watching habit. i am afraid NBC, FOX, ABC, And CBS have pretty much stifled that. But if the time comes for quality , smart tv to be back in style. I will be there. Until then, I am only watching my favorite programs on dvd that I purchase through Amazon.com. I want to add this series to my dvd collection…so I am ready to fight for that!
Thank You Mr. Falls and please express our deep thanks and gratitude to your cast. A series this great may never come again!
Thanks to everyone involved with this fight and let’s keep it going!
How sad is this? When is enough enough?? It’s gone from trying to save a TV show to BEGGING for one season worth of episodes WE’VE ALREADY SEEN on DVD. They screw their views IN THE ASS and now you want to give them money??? And for episodes you’ve already seen!
Screw NBC, Screw their DVD box sets, and Screw any future shows they decide to air. You network bastards have wasted enough of my time. You won’t get one second more.
NBC are a bunch of ****ing retards that all deserve to lose their jobs. So unfair Bionic Women was the worst show EVER period. Bionic women does not deserve a dvd iT ****ING SUCKS journeyman does. NBC can go **** a rusty couch
Miguel and Hyphen..I understand your anger but you really aren’t representing Journeyman well by your attitudes and language that you are using.
I would have thought that you wouldn’t have left these comments in response to a letter that the creator and Executive Producer of Journeyman sent to the fans thanking them for their hard work and support. Mr. Falls was not at fault for what happened. This was “his” work and I am certain that he wanted to see Journeyman grow to it’s fullest potential.
Cooperstroop — are you kidding me?? We’re not representing Journeyman well?? Newsflash — I never represented Journeyman… period. If I did, the show might still be on. I hate to break it to you but IT’S OVER AND THERE’S NOTHING LEFT TO REPRESENT!!
BTW - last time I checked the creator of the show was not NBC, nor were the producers NBC. You really need to learn how to read better.
Miguel, if you are a Journeyman fan whether it’s still on or not, you are representing it as a fan, with what you say. I don’t really understand your last statement about NBC. I didn’t mention NBC in my comment. I can read just fine.
Have you seen this drivel? http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/Television/story?id=4604310&page=1
…”The theory: They weren’t given enough of a chance to prove themselves, producing just nine to 13 episodes, which ran out by January.”
Like Hyphen said so eloquently, NBC can go **** a rusty couch.
And Miguel? Lighten up.
I would appreciate it if we could keep the language on here clean. Thanks.
I’m currently streaming episode 1, as part of our (former?) weekly streaming events. (It’s Monday and there’s no post for watching tonight…Does that mean streaming is done?)
As far as DVDs go…I can understand not wanting them. It makes sense. Why give these people money, after what they’ve done? Having said that, I would buy the DVDs. I’ve sent off e-mails and letters, asking for them.
And let’s do our best to not get back at each others throats. Anger is a completely natural and valid emotion. We once all shared a common goal - see to it that Journeyman stayed on the air. That’s not a possibility anymore. And now, there’s some level of uncertainty. There are several opinions on what comes next. Some want to push for a DVD. Some want to say “enough is enough.” I’m sure there are a handful of people who are still fighting for another season. My point is…Though we are not of one mind anymore, we are still — ALL of us — fans of Journeyman. Anger about Journeyman’s fate should not be aimed at fellow fans.
RE: language..sorry.
@ Aaron: Good points, all.
well said aaron.
i’ll admit i rarely buy tv boxed sets on dvd. one set i do have is rome. the other is deadwood. i’d like to add journeyman.
i’d buy the set, not for nbc, but as a supporter of kevin and the fantastic cast of journeyman
Mr. Falls, first of all, thank you for Journeyman. No other show has turned me upside down like this one did! You have such a gift! And thank you for the coolest interview you gave on the Journeyman fan podcast and your gracious response and support! I’m truly looking forward to your future work and wish you and everyone involved the very best.
There have been shows in the past that were brought back by popular demand.
The old 1950’s Superman TV show, with the original cast, was brought back after two years.
If there is enough of a demand for it, it is never too late for a show to come back.
I am with you Bruce! We should not give up hope. Even though Mr. Falls is currently working on another project with a competitor of FOX, anything is possible and if the fans won’t “abandon ship” and if we keep ourselves pulled together and encourage one another then who knows what we can accomplish! No one can tell us that it’s impossible because no one knows for sure! I love Journeyman too much to just give up on it. Send your letters today to FOX, politely requesting the DVD set and they will see that there is a big response from the fans with the sales and that may be just what is needed. Also, I really wish FOX would show the reruns of Journeyman in a good time slot with some promo and that will boost the fan base even more!!
yes, let’s contact Fox Studios!!! The new model to save shows like this is the “Friday Night Lights” and “Jericho” model. Fox Studios would need to find a cable/satellite partner. It could work….Journeyman has an audience every bit as big and as loyal as the audience of those two shows.
I have never once bought a DVD set for a tv show, but I plan on making Journeyman my first one!! I plan on sending out letters and emails ASAP. I couldnt agree more with you guys, we need to focus our anger into a common goal and not at ourself. what good does it do us to sit here and bash at each other, that is not the purpose of these posts. So everyone just needs to calm down a little bit.
To those of you who mentioned a fight possibly continuing . . . Count me in if it ever does continue!! I dont want to stop the fight!
To Kevin Falls, (dont think you will get this but it needs to be said)
I wish you the best of luck. You are a very talented writer. You had me on the edge of my seat from day one wondering what just happened and what will happen next. I never left my seat while Journeyman was on because i didnt want to miss one second of it. You did something that many writers haven’t, you gave us a quality tv show that was unlike any other on tv! And we thank you for that! Journeyman is by far my favorite show ever, and that is saying something since there were only 13 episdoes. That just goes to show you how good it really was. I cant wait to see what else you write, I know that it wont be about Journeyman, but I am up for a new adventure. If you ever want to start Journeyman up again just let us know and we will be there fighting with you!! Thank you for the amazing ride!
I’m sorry I was just really pissed I’ll keep cooler with the language next time. I just think its EXTREMELY unfair to not give Journeyman a dvd but Bionic Women (Worst show ever created on Earth , it makes babies cry all around the world!) got one. I mean common yes the girl in Bionic Women has really big “insert female body part here” and is decently hot but common IT SUCKS. Anyways I guess we can be happy that Kevin Mckidd (Dan Vasser) is actually acting in some random new movie that looks like a chick flick but still good for him. But his best role was in Journeyman. It’s to bad NBC likes to kill quality shows and put in things like American Gladiator and My Dads better than yours or whatever! Thank you Kevin Falls for creating a enjoyable show and from all the Journeyman fans we are backing you with a dvd and will try and contact fox!
Thank You!

NBC Universal is so ****ing stupid. Seriously. They renew Knight Rider, which bombed both creatively AND ratings-wise, but they won’t move Journeyman to Sci-Fi or USA.
Re.
Tar.
Ded.
**** NBC. Also, people that are scared of bad words are stupid. Grow up. People cuss in real life, and more so on the internet. 99% of Journeyman’s fans are foul-mouthed internet geeks, and if you believe otherwise then you’re one of the 1%.
(I’m using profanities here as a joke, just in case you can’t tell)
Nice work Detective! I totally agree with you!
A little voice from Argentina: (my english sux, so forgive me about that)
i saw few days ago, at latinamerican FOX channel, i saw a trailer-mix of upcoming series for us. with JOURNEYMAN included.
tired of stupid national tv productions, (cheap copies from US shows) only made to feed the national idiocracy (we have alot here!). i started to watch online-downloaded US TV SHOWS.
I enjoyed alot your show, fresh, different, and mostly intelligent. not allowed for dumbs i guess.
well, human nature reigns over again, a visionary show like JOURNEYMAN cant be understood by present mortals, maybe in the future (very near i hope), people can be ready to watch and understand more tv series like yours.
even when i live so far from you guys, i share your disappointment. and i know that my words are worthless since im not included in US TV RATING. I leave this comment to say: THANK YOU for giving me 13 nights of pure entertainment like no nother tv shows.
update for my last post:
in Argentina, JOURNEYMAN will be announced like a mini-serie.
will be aired at may 12 in prime time segment (monday 22:00), usually this segment was reserved by FOX to 24 (the most viewed in cable tv in Argentina).
if NBC thinks that the world ends outside of USA, they are so WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FOX made alot of money here with 24!!! and FOX will make with JOURNEYMAN too i guess since tv spots are quite impressive.
moving JOURNEYMAN to sci-fi or another affiliate of nbc could be an intelligent strategy, giving a chance to grow up and let it make profits for NBC in other lands.
too sad seeing how stupid shows are going for their second, third, fourth or fifth season and good shows like JOURNEYMAN goes to the trashbin just because some executives are cowards and never take risks.
It does indeed SUCK.
I just got a second job a few weeks ago and there’s 3 people who work there that watched Journeyman back in the fall. One guy who I’ve been talking to a lot lately about tv shows, didn’t even know it was canceled. He seems to think the same thing I am, that there was so many possibilites that the writers were never able to explore.
This show needs a DVD really badly. I’m sure FOX will eventually give us what they want since canceled FOX shows like Firefly and The Loop have their own DVD sets.
By the way, FOX would be producing the DVD set, NOT NBC. They only aired the series, 20th Century FOX handled the production of the series. So your money would be going to FOX…the people who did support the series.
Ahhh, John Amsterdam…the wisdom of 400 years in that comment.
You better not die in the next episode, or I’ll be seriously pi- …erm…upset.
I watched Journeyman here in Australia thanks to my daughter’s friend who somehow through the wonder of the web, managed to get the series.
I am in my 50’s and have always enjoyed science fiction shows based on everyday experiences - that is that they are believable enough to maybe be possible.
I really enjoyed this series, having read ‘The Time traveller’s wife’ and enjoyed that - I saw similarities.
I really fear that in all areas of film entertainment, we are seeing a dumbing down of shows to appeal to the lowest common denominator of society - trashy reality TV and soap operas etc.
Shows that require you to think about and understand interesting but more complicated themes, tend to be too difficult for many of the average viewers to understand and we quickly see their demise.
I think that is what has happened with Journeyman - unfortunately we may see less and less of these shows being made as we speed towards ‘Idiocrasy.’
Wow…Trolls run rampant everywhere, don’t they?
Todd, thanks for keeping this site open, I’m hoping that once the REAL Journeyman Fans move past the broken-hearted stage that they’ll come back en force and positively push for a DVD release.
Rallying together again for a good cause makes sense, and since FOX has been supportive of our campaign they could very well consider releasing a DVD in spite of the exorbitant cost of the music rights. It’s certainly worth a try, because FOX wasn’t the focus of our original campaign to renew Journeyman, NBC was since they were the station that aired Journeyman. Since Universal Fox Television Studios owns the rights to Journeyman as a whole, and since they have better listening skills to their fans, we might just be able to make enough of an impact to have them release a DVD…and if the sales for said DVD do really well, they just might consider bringing it back in the future once they are able to collaborate with Kevin Falls again sometime at a later date. Several shows in the past have been ‘resurrected’ because of the Fan Support…why should Journeyman be any different? More recently Family Guy was resurrected AFTER it was canceled BECAUSE of the DVD sales. Quite a number of shows were ‘resurrected’ BECAUSE OF THE FANS. The Journeyman Fan base has grown by leaps and bounds since the final episode aired in December, but there’s no way to track that unless the fans rally together and write letters, send emails, and yes, even Rice-a-Roni to FOX.
To Kevin Falls - we thank you for bringing Journeyman to us, and thank all the writers, producers and actors and everyone else involved in this brilliant work. There has never been a show that has touched our hearts as Journeyman has, thanks to your collective efforts. We wish you all good luck in your future endeavors, and will always keep the light on for Journeyman. Maybe, just maybe, we’ll all ‘meet again someday’!
Shutting down comments again. I guess some people can’t be civil. Any further discussion can continue in the forums.
