I am glad that this website is here!! My wife and I love this show, and I think that others would too if it were given time. I for one will be watching as long as it stays on the air. Keep this one NBC!

  2. Gerryon 29 Nov 2007 at 2:50 am

Agreed. My wife and i Love this show too, you have a great show…you owe us this after that whole Studio 60 thing…

Keep ‘Jorneyman’, it started off a bit slow but by crikky, it’s absolutely addictive now… I am commenting from the UK, please don’t cancel a very good and cracking show…

I’m really bummed this is being talked about as being cancelled. I don’t watch a whole lot of network TV, but “Journeyman” is right up there. I’ not sold on “Life”, I watched the first few episodes but the characters never clicked the way the have on Life, PLEASE don’t cancel this show!

  5. Cobaltqubeon 29 Nov 2007 at 9:55 am

On the Morning of the 28th I tried to register savejourneyman.net & savejourneyman.org. I had planned on doing a www site such as this one to start a campaign to save my favorite tv show Journeyman.

I received this email from my provider telling me that I missed out on the dot-net but got the dot-org domain. So, since you have already set this up I would like to offer a forward of my savejourneyman.org domain to point here to http://www.savejourneyman.net in order to help out in addition to the case of asprin that I am going to get from the dollar store to mail one bottle at a time to NBC to help save my show.

Thanks for setting this site up for us fans.. you beat me by 24 hours.. Great minds think alike I guess :-)

Anything else I can do to help.. Just let me know

Thats all I gotta say about that.

    Another gem bites the dust….

  8. Paranoron 29 Nov 2007 at 12:10 pm

Why are all the more intelligent shows being cancelled (ie: journeyman, jericho) and fluff like Chuck get full seasons? I can’t stand it anymore!

Journeyman should stay, it is well written, well acted, and is more than just the fluff that is 95% of US TV these days.

I say someone needs to create “The good show TV Network” and take over the shows that got cut because mr & mrs clueless went to watch so called reality shows which have nothing to do with real life!

Journeyman, Jericho, Firefly, etc would all be on my list to be resurrected on this network.

  9. Ebeeon 29 Nov 2007 at 1:20 pm

Even though I liked the show “Raines” I can ultimately understand why it got cancelled. It never really built up any steam. Journeyman is a different story altogether. It went from being “pretty good” to fantastic in a short span of time and I actually get a bit sad when I think this show may not continue.
I was disappointed when “Smith” with Ray Liotta got cancelled by CBS…really disappointed.
I don’t want to experience this with Journeyman.

  10. Rachelon 29 Nov 2007 at 1:40 pm

Thanks for mobilizing the fans! Journeyman is the ONLY good show on television right now (I gave up on Bionic Woman and ER is in a slow spiral downhill). I’ve already signed the petition and left a comment on NBC.com. Thanks for the info on who specifically to contact at NBC; I’m going to be sending an email and maybe even a letter, and count me in on the aspirin if we decide to do that.

  11. Bradon 29 Nov 2007 at 3:39 pm

It’s time to save this show. Kevin Falls said it himself…the pressure the fans have put on NBC was enough influence to get episode 1.12 to air on a special night.

We can absolutely do this, we just need to get the word out. Tell your friends, post blogs/bulletins on Myspace, contact NBC, SciFi, and stir the pot! I personally feel that NBC didn’t promote this show enough and there wasn’t much buzz for people to start tuning in. For the people that did however, they’re hooked. Journeyman is well written and the cast has been fantastic. So let’s keep them busy filming a back nine. There are alot of dedicated Journeyman fans and NBC must know that.

  12. Matton 29 Nov 2007 at 6:19 pm

    Email sent!
    Hope this show continues.

  13. Wilfordon 29 Nov 2007 at 6:54 pm

This show is excellent. I hope this campaign works. I’d love to see a full first season, and a possible second season.

  14. Shaunon 29 Nov 2007 at 7:12 pm

We will be doing another Talking Journeyman this coming Sunday at 7pm PT 10pm ET..To talk about the show and what each of us is doing to try to save it..

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/shaunomacradio

  15. Laurynon 29 Nov 2007 at 11:29 pm

I sent an email to NBC and signed the petition. Please let us know if we can do more. Only 2600 have signed the petition and that isn’t enough to get the thickheads at NBC to listen.

Does anyone know who the biggest sponsor is during Journeyman? Maybe we find out the contact at that company and capitalize on it. NBC will listen to sponsors, even if they tune out bloggers.

  16. Sean RNon 30 Nov 2007 at 4:37 am

    HERE HERE!
I agree, Journeyman should get a fighting chance for survival.
It’s the modern-day quantum leap that I for one was skeptical about at first, now am a fan.
    Thanks for creating this site!

  17. Juanon 30 Nov 2007 at 10:59 am

    This show rules.

  18. Robertoon 02 Dec 2007 at 5:43 pm

I live in Italy and I must admit I watch this show in a not so legal way.
But it’s the only way and I do think the show is amazing and that it would be a shame if it was cancelled.
Come on, NBC, think of all those like me live outside America who are waiting for you to sell the show to their national TVs so they can watch it and buy DVDs. Would you really give up on trying to sell this? Don’t be selfish, don’t be stupid, don’t let this be another “Tru Calling” (a failure in the States, a hit abroad).

  19. Jason B.on 03 Dec 2007 at 6:14 pm

I wrote a very short email to Joanne Parks letting her know how much I love the show “Journeyman” and this is the reply I got:

Thank you so much for taking the time to email me about the show. I promise you that we love the show too and we hope that the ratings will go up! But please don’t give up hope yet! I know im not! Please tell all your friends to tune in in two weeks for the Christmas episode! Thanks!

  20. Aaronon 04 Dec 2007 at 12:53 pm

Great to know that there is this much support for the show.

Journeyman was the show that I was most looking forward too last spring when all the Fall Pilots were being announced. As a fan of the Time Lord himself (Doctor Who), I really pictured Journeyman to be similar but was pleasantly surprised by how different it actually is. I’ve been plugging the show from time to time on my weekly podcast, and will continue to do so especially now that the final three episodes are coming up and that it is what they call “on the bubble”, as the strike lingers the need for our voices is stronger, we need to convince NBC that Journeyman deserves to stay on, that the word is getting out and they have an underdog hit series under their belts.

  21. Ericon 04 Dec 2007 at 11:49 pm

Thanks for dedicating your time to save a great show.

  25. Alex Michaelson 06 Dec 2007 at 8:34 am

When this show first came up, I thought it was going to be like “Quantum Leap,” so I gave it a chance. I am glad I did. Then I read it was like a book called “The The Time Traveler’s Wife.” So, I read that and found out it wasn’t. “Journeyman” is its own thing and a fine piece of TV. How it can be in danger of being off the air in less than a year and shows like “Full House” last 8 years is beyond me.

Also I use to live near San Francisco and now I am stuck in Cleveland, so I love seeing the city in every episode.

I love so much about the show.

  26. DEFIANTon 06 Dec 2007 at 10:20 pm

Please do not cancel the show. Since Star Trek, there has been absolutely nothing worth watching on TV…if it’s canceled it’s back to video games for my entertainment. Might as well sell my TV. Journeyman is a brilliant piece of TV fiction. I swear to G*D people wouldn’t know a good show if it smacked them upside there (reality TV crap) head. How I loath these TV excutives who think good TV is Reality TV. If I want reality I wake up in the mourning.

  27. Mac Stein IIIon 08 Dec 2007 at 12:31 pm

I love this show and I’ve always been right about successes of TV shows…(93%). This is golden and even gets brighter & richer as the weeks pass. I look forward to it. Will Smith watches it I was told via friend of stylist. It’s loved by many and remember so many of us TiVo and watch online…Neillsen ratings are so behind in the times. Hello! Please keep this show on. It’s a winner to the moon and back. Life & Chuck didn’t click with me either and they picked it up (go figure)…i don’t get it. KEEP IT ON!!!!!!!

  28. Alexanderon 08 Dec 2007 at 12:33 pm

I love the show too! No more reality shows and stupid sitcoms please. We’re not brainless & 20 yrs old. This show is appt TV for us and my friends. Why would anyone think to cancel this show….who makes the decision, a 12 yr old?

I went to high school with Gretchen Egolf and her brother Tristan. Even then I knew she would become a terrific actress. Journeyman only proves that point.

  45. sarahon 11 Dec 2007 at 2:50 pm

I think what hurt this show a lot was the slow pilot (not to mention the strike). My husband quit watching after that, but I decided to give it another shot. I am so glad I did. It picked up fast; I love this show now! I haven’t missed an episode.
    Keep this show NBC!

    Please, do NOT cancel Journeyman!!!
It’s been picked up here in the UK by Sky and I believe it’s had decent viewing so far.
I’ve followed it on the US timeline and it’s one of the few shows I’ve stayed on with (Bionic Woman has become pointless).

Come on NBC, have some backbone and show intelligent programming, not fluff!!!!

  49. Christopher Greeron 17 Dec 2007 at 1:58 am

Why would this show get cancelled?!???!!

This has been my favorite show this season! I think it had a great storyline and has so much room for much more. Wouldn’t this be an easy storyline to write for? How could you run out of ideas for this?

  50. Wendyon 17 Dec 2007 at 2:34 pm

a truly enjoyable show that doesn’t involve dark disturbing storylines and images that can keep you up at night. why is it that every show that is thought provoking becomes questionable as to its viability? this show has found an ardent support base - give it a change, try a new timeslot, do something proactive - don’t just let it fall by the wayside.

  51. gurnemanzon 17 Dec 2007 at 7:55 pm

Dig in for the long haul, folks, and take a page (hell, steal the entire book!) from the ‘Watch FarScape’ campaign. Commit yourself, your imagination and a little bit of spare change - when they know people will pay, that’ll get the advertisers’ attention.

Meanwhile - Where’s the best place to get a deal on a case of Rice-A-Roni?

  52. Lisetteon 17 Dec 2007 at 11:07 pm

I truly love this show. I watch it and record it so I can watch it over again. I don’t understand why it would be cancelled. The plot and the stories are getting better and better. I hope they don’t leave us hanging at the end! NBC is looking for me to stop watching it. They seem to have a hard time with giving sci-fi’s a chance… what the point to even try if they are not going to follow through! SAVE JOURNEY MAN!

  53. Timon 17 Dec 2007 at 11:30 pm

Great Show. Hate to sit it go. I only watch 1 show all week and this was it. Hopefully it gets picked up by somebody else.

    Send emails pleading the case.

  55. ARTHUR DEANEon 18 Dec 2007 at 2:00 pm

How can they cancel a great written show like Journeyman? The twist and turns of the show are spectatular. The plot is B+ and the actors are superub. I dvr the show all the time and watch it the very next day. NBC dont do this. You always want a homerun instead of building on single and doubles you want a grand slam. TV execs need ot understand you sometimes dont get a major hit right away.

Sometimes you need to give a program a season or two . Dont drop the ball on a show that has the potentional to once again put you back on top. At least give it a whole season folks.

You have a show that can at least give you three seasons worth of stories . Dont be to rasha dn cancel the show just because folks arent watching. Law and Order, ER and well gameshows will only take you so far. Give Journeyman another chance

  56. Maria Hickmanon 18 Dec 2007 at 6:13 pm

The follwoing is a copy of the e-mail I sent NBC

I see America has started a campaign to save Journeyman.

I’d like to lend my supoort for this show…

I am a 42 year old Policeman from Maine.

This is the most enjoyable show I have seen in some time…

Its entertaining and fun to see how he travels and how it can effect the future…

I was a huge fan of Quantum Leap and was saddened when it ended…

Journeyman falls in this category and I hope NBC renews it for the rest of the season…

If the strike continues I hope that NBC considers it for next year…

With the inability to come up with new shows if the stirke lingers why not keep Journeyman and give it a better lead in to give it a shot.

Its amazing what shows suceed when they are put in a good time slot….

Take the show on CBS… Big Bang Theory….

This has to be one of the stupidest shows this season but it is a supposed hit because it is sandwiched between How I met your mother adn 2 1/2 Men…

    PLEASE GIVE JOURNEYMAN ANOTHER LOOK

Spend one dollar, buy the song and write a review or anything you want about the show and why it deserves to be on the air.

If enough people spend $1 and do this, the song could end up in the Top Songs category.

For less than the price of a cup of coffee, you too could Save Journeyman.

  61. FansOfTheJManon 19 Dec 2007 at 10:23 pm

We were beginning to steer away from network tv (too many programs with NO substance). However, Journeyman is quite innovative, with interesting and convincing characters, and my husband and I look forward to this bright star in a sky of dull and unimpressive new shows. Please keep this show going!!

  62. Jonathan Fulleron 19 Dec 2007 at 11:29 pm

Journeyman is one of my most favourite shows, I enjoy watching when the episode airs,
and I enjoy being able to catch up on-line. All I’m saying is the show has my support in front of the T.V. and the computer. What’s gonna’ happen next?

  63. Phillip Funkon 20 Dec 2007 at 12:14 am

I just saw the last one tonight. I absolutely love this show. I am sad that our society lives for reality shows and well produced shows such as Journeyman are lost.

Bear in mind, that NBC’s upper mgmt are just so smart (being sarcastic). Remember two wonderful shows some time back called “The Pretender” and “Profiler”??? Great shows that NBC axed for THE XFL (WWE’s football league). How smart is that network???

Farewell Journeyman…. It will be missed.

  64. ronion 20 Dec 2007 at 1:05 am

If it is cancelled, which i hope it doesnt it could probably continue as a pretty succesful comic book at dark horse. time travel is a comic book staple and it has a fan base that is larger than any normal selling super hero book, also it works for joss whedon

  65. Will B.on 20 Dec 2007 at 2:55 am

JourneyMan is a great show, hopefully it won’t be cancelled. There are so few good shows on television anymore that we hardly watch. JourneyMan is one of those great shows that do not come along very often, and it is the reason why we watch NBC on Monday.

Fingers crossed that JourneyMan will come back soon, otherwise we’re another viewing household that won’t be watching NBC.

    B.

p.s. Don’t fix what ain’t broken — JourneyMan is great as it is, should it be brought back don’t make any changes. Continue with the great story lines as-is & keep it going.

I just found out last night during the last episode that this show was being pulled off of the air. This is very disappointing news. This is one of the only shows that my family and I would watch consistantly from week to week. It is sad that NBC felt like they needed to axe another almost perfect show.

I guess I’d classify this show as a hidden gem, since only 7 million people are watching. With some support and nurturing from the network, I really believe it will capture a much larger audience. By the way, could anyone tell me what Dan said to his wife at the very end of the last episode, just before he disappeared? I was griping to my wife about the possible demise of the show, and didn’t catch what he said.

I’m from the UK & have to watch this show either streaming or download it…i don’t see why more people from the US don’t watch this show so that it can be kept on the air. Its a fantastic show & the best on the TV at the moment & even above Heroes series 2 I’d say. SAVE JOURNEYMAN!!!!!

  77. Ben Mon 22 Dec 2007 at 7:07 am

As an Australian fan of the show, I am disappointed that so much would be invested in developing a show, only for it to be scrapped without being given a chance. My friends and I have now become emotionally attached to the characters after a slow start and can’t wait for each episode. One really doesn’t feel like investing time on watching new shows if they are just going to be canceled once you’ve been sucked in! I just hope sanity prevails cos I’ve had enough reality TV, this show was a breath of fresh air!

  78. Alex J.on 23 Dec 2007 at 8:44 pm

Journeyman is the only show that I watch on network tv now. I’m tired of the mindless reality shows. I used to watch Deadwood on HBO before that ended. I love LOST but that’s only sporatic and will only have eight episodes in the upcoming season. I will be watching Jericho when it returns soon and I hope that the letter writing campaign that helped Jericho will be used effectively to save Journeyman. I’ve grown attached to the characters and want more of the storyline. I liked watching “The Time Tunnel” wahen I was little (yeah it was corny), the Back to the Future movies and Quantum Leap. Time travel intrigues me. Journeyman makes me think about big things in my own life (career, spouse, children, hobbies) that could have easily been changed by one or two little different choices earlier. My wife’s aunt died when her car skidded on ice in upstate NY, the next day it was 45 degrees and all the snow and ice melted. But her freakish death was the day before. What if she didn’t go out that day, took another route, left five minutes earlier or later, etc. She left behind several children. Every minute in life counts. Series like Journeyman make one think.

    Your comments?

I just read about the plans to cancel it today and it upset me so much I have already sent 2 e-mails to NBC and signed the petition.

This show is the main reason I even watch NBC. It’s smartly written with interesting characters.

I would hate to see this show canceled before it even has a chance. In a tv world full of brainless reality and game shows it was really refreshing to find something with wit, charm and good acting.

    SAVE JOURNEYMAN!!!!

  80. Matthewon 24 Dec 2007 at 2:25 am

Journeyman is one of the few new shows that have held my interest throughout this season. More than once, Journeyman has made me choke up, as good as the writing is. Extremely rare does a TV show do that with me, especially when the characters haven’t got much history behind them. Not just the plot twists and good acting, but the fact that each episode leads into the next as a smooth transition. There aren’t many shows that do that so well, and it’s fantastic! While this has the disadvantage of confusing people who didn’t follow the series from the first episode, the program offsets this by establishing an epic feel to it, hinting at a grand picture that makes me hate to see the end credits roll by each and every time. If they’re going to sack a show, sack ER. It’s already had a good run, it’s time to let it die.

But Journeyman has so much promise. I would dare say Journeyman has been a good match for the best that even the Sci-Fi Channel has had to offer lately. And that’s not meant to be a slight against SFC, either. I’ve been a fan of all the Stargate series since they first started, even though the first couple of seasons were blah too. But see how well it did once it had a chance to develop! Whenever I would watch Stargate SG-1 when it was in its prime, I was always sad to see the end of each episode and couldn’t wait until next Friday to see the next one. The same goes for the first three seasons of the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series.
And Journeyman has been THAT good so far.

If NBC wrecks Journeyman, Sci-Fi Channel would be fools not to pick it up if they could. And if they did, I’m confident it will be a huge success for them!

I was shocked to hear this show was getting canceled . I was intrigued when i first heard it was going to be a time traveling show. I loved quantum leap and thought to give this a try. By the second episode i was hooked, now i am sad to see it go.

The acting and stories where amazing, along with the time traveling aspect. I wish we could see it through to understand why Dan and others are traveling. I liked the sub stories with the FBI agent and the professor, whom both knew of these “anomalies” happening to random people. The final episode did shed some light on some questions (i would really like to know about the professor and dan in the picture, Dan’s father must have known the professor as well) i hope we get to see more someday!

I think the show is amazing and one of the most intelligent story lines I have seen in ages. It would be sorely missed. I agree with most of the comments, we all need to stick together and put pressure on the networks.

I just can’t imagine where the story line will be going next and that’s what makes it great unlike the 99% of predictable TV I see today!

Keep Journeyman going and please don’t dissapoint!

Come on NBC - Deal or No Deal? Keep Dan on his journey. Great show, great actors, great FANS! Let’s do it for Dan.

I love this show and am dying to find out more in Season 2! SAVE JOURNEYMAN!

  91. Cathyon 30 Dec 2007 at 8:33 pm

My husband and I are hooked on this show! It’s one of few that we both sit down and watch together. I can only hope this online outpouring can get it revived. If not, then shame on NBC for not recognizing the potential of this series. While I can “stomach” some of the reality TV…..he would rather tune in to Discovery or History channels to pique his interests. Journeyman is one of few series that kept his interest.

I hope we can convince someone to keep it alive.

  92. Johnon 31 Dec 2007 at 1:11 am

NBC, please don’t cancel this show! My wife and I love Journeyman and can’t wait for the next episode. Although she isn’t into Sci-Fi, she really likes JM. The show is intellectual, funny, creative, and different from anything else out there. It’s one of our required weekly viewings (via Tivo). The news that the show may be canceled is very disappointing and we hope it’s not true. Please give this show a chance!

  93. Derekon 31 Dec 2007 at 2:14 am

I ABSOLUTELY love this show!! I will be so disappointed if it gets cancelled that I may seriously never watch network television again. I will at the very least go on a personal strike against NBC. It’s the only show on their network that’s worth watching anyway. Why is it that all of the good, interesting shows get cancelled(ie. Studio 60) but shows like Chuck get picked up fpr a full season? I mean, who’s making the decisions regarding these shows? It seems as though they feel like if a show is not a ratings blockbuster, it’s a failure. NBC needs to be reminded of some of its previous successes…Seinfeld, for instance, had terrible ratings the first two years. We all know how that turned out. I got on the internet tonight to look for a way to help save this show so I’m glad that this site is here. It worked for Jericho, why not Journeyman?

  94. Lisaon 31 Dec 2007 at 9:44 pm

I was shocked when I went online tonight to find out why Journeyman has not been on for 2 weeks! I thought it was just because of holiday specials! I am so unbelieveably disappointed! Freaks and Geeks was one of my all time favorites and they pulled that so I should not be surprised! Here is the email I just sent:
    Dear Ms. Park,
I am writing to you begging that you please, please, please not cancel Journeyman! My husband and I have watched every episode with anxious anticipation and after 2 weeks of no show, I thought I better get online to see what was going on. I had a fear that it would be pulled because whenever I REALLY love a show, it gets cancelled. I hoped and prayed that this would not be the case with Journeyman! I can hardly wait each week for Monday night to arrive! I am totally shocked that there will be no more! It is the most innovative program by far on the air right now. If there is anything you can do about this PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don’t cancel it! PLEASE?

  95. Georgeon 01 Jan 2008 at 12:21 am

Journeyman was different and the first network television show to come along in a while that could hold my attention. It is ashame they want to cancel it. It will be missed. Perhaps the SciFi channel will pick it up. It is better than alot of the crap they have been showing lately. It’s back to the internet for me.

  96. Rosemaryon 01 Jan 2008 at 10:32 pm

Journeyman come back!! My husband and I looked forward to sitting down with a cup of coffee and getting lost in the show after putting our kids down to sleep. I loved all the surprises and that he helps people in each show. I am still in disbelief that it is not on the air. I wrote a letter to NBC asking them to consider keeping Journeyman . I ‘ll be so psyched to hear they reconsidered after so much public outcry. We want Jouneyman, we want Journeyman,we want Journeyman!!

  97. Donna Smithon 02 Jan 2008 at 8:02 pm

My husband and I both really enjoy Journeyman. It is thought-provoking and riveting entertainment. I have sent emails both to Ms. Park and NBC asking them to bring it back.

  98. Jim Angstadton 02 Jan 2008 at 9:31 pm

My wife and in-laws watched this show every week. We loved it and looked forward to every episode. I hope Ms. Park and the other NBC executives change their mind to allow the show at least a full season. It’s great TV!

  99. Ana Lucia Novakon 03 Jan 2008 at 2:34 am

I love Journeyman, and was quite disappointed that it wasn’t on this week. The December 19 airing left me panting for more, and I was impressed with the storyline. The holidays are hard as people are busy partying, shopping, traveling to and fro, so how can they fairly measure the interest?

They need to air it back on! People will watch Journeyman! Kevin McKidd and cast are hot!

    Love, Ana

I really hope they decide not to make this bad decision!!

  102. Chris Kellyon 04 Jan 2008 at 7:59 pm

    London Calling!

Hey, what is it with you American studio people? Is this what it’s come to? You produce some of the finest TV shows in the Western hemisphere and, seemingly, because a nameless TV exec crapped himself about the ratings, another show gets canned ‘cos ‘the numbers’ just didn’t stack up? (I say him because, let’s face it, most of your big US TV networks are run by blokes who think they have the inside track on audience trends!). What is this preoccupation your TV people have with ratings? This ongoing obsession appears to get in the way of supporting quality drama and, as a consequence, denies us, the discerning viewer, the right to continue watching the very shows you make for us and indeed the shows we’ve shown loyalty and dedication to from the off!

Wake Up Call people! We don’t all sit and veg out in front of our TVs all day, eating fried food and ignoring the telephone ‘cos we don’t wanna miss the next installment of some trailer trash family who washes their dirty laundry on Oprah! Some of us, this writer and his wife included, are in that band of selective, light TV viewers who knows and appreciates quality TV when they see it.

Come on America…have you not learned? We’ve trodden this well-worn path before. Your modern TV history is littered with the nervous TV equivalent of hair-trigger trouble. Boomtown, and Thief are just two examples of quality shows that have bitten the dust before they even broke into a run. You giveth, then you taketh away! As we know, Jericho narrowly avoided this fate, in most part through the dogged support of the viewers who loved it. However, it still had to be dragged kicking and screaming into a yet-to-be-screened second season! And now, after following the excellent Kevin McKidd - whom I might add is one of Scotland’s finest acting sons - and of course your own superb Gretchen Egolf & Co., they’re to be confined to TV history because…not enough of us watched the show! Whatever happened to the upscale, opinion-forming, intelligent audience that advertisers oh-so crave? What happened to less is more?

No, let me guess: Pre launch date, someone at the studio came up with a magical ratings figure, plucked outta the air and doubtless delivered in a whizz-bang presentation to studio heads; all backed up with mind boggling scientific-sounding audience research that no-one would really admit to comprehending! “Yes, Mr. NBC, we expect Journeyman to deliver X-million ratings in its first season….” Or, perhaps the advertisers and their respective agencies (who, let’s face it, aren’t really in the target demographic themselves) didn’t support the show eh?

What happened about providing Journeyman with a decent time slot? What happened to good ol’ fashioned above-the-line promotion? A few months back in New York, ya couldn’t move for bumping into a billboard or bus-side for Dexter…no wonder it’s proved such a hit!

Us Brits send you the highly talented Hugh Laurie (House), Eddie Izzard (The Riches) and Joely Richardson (Nip/Tuck) to help launch your award-winning TV shows and this is how you reward us? Surely, the talented Mr. McKidd et al should be elevated to the pantheons of TV greatness by helping to create seriously watchable, inspiring and down right appointment-to-view TV? But no, because the show failed to hit its desired ratings figure, the honchos at NBC will pull the plug before Journeyman has even earned its stripes. Well guys, next time you manage to get the weekly ratings predictions bang on, please will you also let me have your guesses for that week’s lotto numbers? No, strike that, give Kev another chance and he’ll do it for me, through his gift of time travel of course!

There are some of us that, after a hard day’s work, like to put the kids to bed, brew a nice cup of tea (sorry America but I can’t help mischievously playing to your romantic stereotypes of us mad, tea guzzlin’ Anglo Saxons!) and escape for an hour into another world that, just for a short time, provides an antidote to the stress of all that life can offer. Journeyman was that show. It delivered just the right ingredients of intelligent, thought-provoking and escapist entertainment. NBC made this show for us, the audience who loved it. Then, they took away.

Well, for the ghosts of Boomtown, Thief and now, it seems, Journeyman and all the cast, crew, writers, directors and producers that once believed in the potential of these once-great shows, I salute you. But lo, let’s also hold a candle for the viewers who supported these TV gems and, without prior knowledge or indeed consultation, are left to grieve the death of television as we know it.

The ratings are dead! Long live the ratings!

    Journeyman…RIP.

Please don’t cancell Journeyman! This is one of the most quality shows that NBC has put out in a long time (besides Heroes). It’s one that is family friendly, and you don’t find much of that around anymore.

  104. Sashaon 06 Jan 2008 at 11:15 pm

I love Journeyman. With tools like DVR, I don’t know if the rating system is a true monitor of the success of this show. I never have the opportunity to see the show, but because of my DVR, I was able to see every episode. I work 2nd shift and the DVR worked wonders. I know this didn’t help ratings wise, but I can be sure that I’m not the only one who did this…….Anyone have thoughts on this?

  105. carloon 08 Jan 2008 at 6:15 pm

everyone has to do all they can to keep this show man. I personally love this show with all my heart. It actually has a meaning unlike those other shows on NBC or like those “reality” shows that don’t have an ounce of reality in them. If this show gets cancelled I would be truely dissappointed just like the rest of the other Journeyman fans. Let’s stand up and fight the system man! Let’s fight to keep Journeyman alive!

  106. JPon 09 Jan 2008 at 4:53 pm

Don’t give up - keep spreading the word. Save JM!!!!! I really enjoy this show and am impressed by the forethought that goes into producing it. It’s good to find a show that makes me think about where it’s going next… amazing. The writing, acting, and quality, not to mention the family-oriented (thought that was all but gone) style, makes me look forward to watching NBC. As shows like JM disappear, and American Gladiators shows up and gets promoted, it makes me sick to see where society is heading.

    Here’s to saving Journeyman!

  109. Cristyon 13 Jan 2008 at 9:36 pm

This show actually made you work, think and make connections - but YOU loved doing it! When NBC takes engaging television off and replaces it with the likes of American Gladiators and garbage of the same level, it makes me realize more and more that TV studios are driven not by what people actually watch, but by what they actually BUY. Logical thinkers, like those that watch Journeyman, don’t buy into the crap that is sold by most sponsors on TV. It is the mindless reality shows that attract the buyers of trendy junk and ideals - the almighty dollar. Therefore, NBC wants the moneymakers, not the most-watched series. Too bad because my husband and I would DVR this show and watch the episodes over and over, always picking up on something new the next time. Now, Monday night TV is just as bad as the rest of the week. We are truly sad!!! Crossing Jordan, Bionic Woman, Journeyman… What’s next? The nightly news? Probably! Because you have to actually have a brain to watch that!

  110. Timon 13 Jan 2008 at 9:52 pm

I just heard that Journeyman is canceled - WHAT??? Please do not cancel this show! Journeyman is one of the best shows on TV!! Moon Bloodgood is one of the best actresses - my wife and I loved her on Day Break (also canceled - maybe it’s us?). Monday nights just got worse. I am going to watch some X-Files re-runs to make myself feel better.

  111. Sylviaon 14 Jan 2008 at 9:40 pm

Journeyman is the best new series to air in YEARS as far as I and my family are concerned. I don’t watch any reality TV shows; I believe those are for people with time to waste and no imagination. Journeyman tweaks the imagination like no other show airing today. It made Monday a day to look forward to rather than to dread! I have found through the years that people who watch science fiction (not horror) possess greater intelligence than the general population. I’ve been a fan of science fiction since Star Trek came on the scene in 1966, and even then the only people I knew who watched it were my classmates in the Honors classes in high school. Perhaps this show is above the average television watchers’ heads. At any rate, I must say that I am highly disappointed in NBC for not giving Journeyman more of a chance to survive. There was a time when a show had a year or two to prove itself, sometimes even three, not just 10 or 12 episodes. Oh, well, there are always books to read.

  112. Carmenon 15 Jan 2008 at 2:23 am

I tried watching an episode of this show starting with episode 10 and I didn’t enjoy it. However, when I went to NBC’s website and began watching the show beginning with the pilot I understood the show and am now enjoying it. That may be one of the things that is hurting the show. Encourage people to go to NBC.com and watch the show from the beginning of the series. Otherwise, I don’t think it will catch on.

  113. Kevin Con 15 Jan 2008 at 3:04 am

Talk about depressing news. I thought they just stopped the show because of the writers strike. This news is even worse. What a huge waste! This show was genius.

  114. Paul Ryanon 16 Jan 2008 at 12:11 am

I, too, am one of those Journeyman fans who, due to a crazy work schedule, often recorded episodes on my DVR. This is a great show that deserves to survive. The writing is imaginative and insightful. The cast exhibit some of the finest acting I have seen on network television in years. Enough with the “Reality” shows.

  115. Pamela Planteron 16 Jan 2008 at 2:01 am

I, too thought the “hangup” was the writer’s strike. However, when I found out that they were canceling this wonderful show, I was appalled, to say in the least, that they would even think of NOT having another season!!! There is so much more for us to find out still and this show has great demographics potential. What are they thinking??? I’m willing to tape it, However, maybe if they gave it a better time????

Ratings dont mean anything most of the time I just had it taped on my dvr so I didnt watch it while it was brodcasting live but I would watch it the next day (I have no idea if that has anything to do with ratings mind you.) This show is amazing. The writing was so creative bring it back Pleeeease!!!!

I’m a viewer over the pond in England and I love Journeyman. I just found out it’s been cancelled yesterday and I’m really disappointed. News of cancellations travels much slower than anticipation of new shows, so I’m a bit behind.

I can’t believe it wasn’t popular. I know the basic story has been told a thousand times before but this was a great time travel show. And what is it with American TV companies dropping new shows so quick? They hardly have to time to get the story unfolding than they’re gone and you never know what was going to happen.

I hope the campaign to save Journeyman works. Good luck.

There are mentions of “streaming” Journeyman shows. Are these new episode that have not aired on TV?? The last one I saw on TV was when Katie’s sister was visiting and left town. How do I get on board with the streaming on this site, and show my support to keep this show alive and kicking?? Again, sorry for the ignorancy…..

I enjoyed Journeyman each week with my Husband who was willing to forgo waqtching Monday Night Football to watch it with me which is a big deal in my house because we both love Football. It is unfair to cancel a show so soon that ran with Monday Night Football. It bearly had a chance. Bring back Journeyman Its time we had quality television back in our lives, some of us crave good dramas instead of garbage.

When I heard on Friday just by chance, that Journeyman was being canceled or possibilty of it being canceled I couldn’t believe it. I have been checking the T.V. guide on Comast each night to see if it will be on at 10:00 pm. If I’m too tired to watch it, I set my recorder! I haven’t missed a show yet. This show is so intriguing and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next and how the two main male actors really look like brothers. It’s one of a few shows that is different then all the cop/laywer shows on the air. The location is San Francisco! (Only 2 hrs from where I love) Getta Love that city and I can relate to the area. PLEASE!!!! PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT, IT WASN’T ON LONG ENOUGH!! I am hooked! There is nothing on at that time slot that is worth watching on that network, I’ll find something else or read my book.
Just remember, if it wasn’t for the stick and having to air all these other shows to take up the time slot, we might be in this position. I read some where here on this site, that the Challenge of the Choir was on and affected radings, but I not remember having to choose between them and it the second have of that show was on, then I just missed the ended because Journey men was a much better choice to watch.

  129. Rinklerocketon 16 Feb 2008 at 7:50 pm

Episode 13 has just finished here in the UK, Thursday past and again we are left in limbo about further episodes. Everything always hinges on the viewers in the US - what do you people want!!(this site excluded) This is different, well written and has an ongoing storyline in amongst a weekly storyline so anyone can join in and pick it up. There are far better quality programmes coming from the US that are being shown in the UK and this is definitely one of them.

  130. CathyRon 19 Feb 2008 at 7:53 pm

Thank you so much for this website! Thank you for trying to keep Journeyman on the air! I love the show and I’m hoping that NBC will keep it on TV. I looked forward to watching it each week and if I was too tired to watch it Monday night, I Tivo’d it and watched it the next day. I sooooo looked forward to it each week and I’m soooo bummed it’s not on TV right now. I can’t believe people would rather watch someone open briefcases for an hour (Deal or No Deal) or watch other people ruin their already disgusting messed up lives (”reality” shows) instead of watching an interesting, unique, thought-provoking show like Journeyman that takes you away from your own woes for one hour a week.

  131. Don Ellioton 20 Feb 2008 at 11:03 pm

I’ve commented and lamented on the fate of Journeyman in a previous post, but one of these recent ones reminded me of yet another thing that makes this show great. It may seem small, but it’s not. They make sure that the characters in their earlier lives look like their older selves, and Dan and Jack do look like brothers. So many other shows don’t take care of this, and sometimes I really do wonder how this doesn’t matter to them??

This is yet another careful, important detail that makes this show one of the best written and produced on TV. Or not on TV. Dammit!

I am amazed that the show has been cancelled. Who actualy decides; It certainly was not a sci-fi fan because the same person decided to leave “The Bionic Women” on air and that show is horrifically bad.

I’m only just findong this out now so forgive me if this is old news! I can’t beleieve that they would cancel such a show. I don’t know how it works in th U.S but it seems like tv shows have to deliver everything in the opening credits or it gets cancelled! I think shows should be given a chance. I heard a lot about Journeyman before it was screened and was excited to see it when it came to the U.K. Kevin McKidd is a great actor both in film and television. Check him out in Rome too, think that may have been HBO. Please give your tv shows a chance! We have to put up with a lot of rubbish in the U.K and it’s great when we get exciting new shows over here, now only if they could sort out Law & Order Criminal Intent!

I’m sure the TV companies have no idea on what makes a good show, journeyman was amazing, the characters had real depth and were really believable, shame it got cancelled, almost makes you feel like boycotting other shows made by them.
On another note the viewing figures really were way off, bearing in mind i’ve heard a lot of people download episodes instead of watching them live, i bet if they but journeyman back on and all the fans watched it there would be a reason the bring out season 2….anyhow rant over, all thats left to say is great, amazing, totally awesome show
